Greetings from Between the Worlds

Join the coven.

I first became acquainted with Amanda Yates Garcia when I got an advance review copy of her stunning memoir, Initiated. She quickly became one of my favorite witches, and I had the pleasure of interviewing her soon after the release of her book. Just last week, I was delighted to chat with her again on Between the Worlds, the podcast she co-creates with Carolyn Pennypacker Riggs. The subject was Samhain and my new zine exploring that holiday. You can hear the whole conversation here.

My goal in creating the zine was to offer an alternative to the surfeit of dubious information about Samhain that’s available online and in a variety of popular publications. And I chose the zine format because, as a professional writer, I am increasingly uneasy about sharing my work online, as I feel like I’m training the robots to replace me. Getting back to my zinester roots has been a lot of fun, and I’m just getting started. I’m currently working with a few friends on the first issue of Croning, a publication for witches of a certain age, and I plan to throw together a little something for the Winter Solstice.

I’m hoping to use this newsletter as a way to keep friends and admirers aware of what’s on the horizon and to share the work of other magical beings, like Amanda, that I’m excited about.

Thanks for reading.
