About the Creator

I bought my first copy of The Spiral Dance at the Walden Books in my local mall in 1986. This was about the same time I purchased the Aquarian Tarot and a mass market paperback of A.E. White’s The Pictorial Key to Tarot. I fell in love with Starhawk immediately and David Palladini’s artwork inspired a lot of High Fantasy daydreams. A.E. White was a real bummer and his approach to Tarot made me lose interest in learning more about it for decades. Anyway…

I have a degree in Religion from Bryn Mawr College. In the classroom, I learned a lot about women in the early church and noncanonical Gospels and Jewish mysticism and the nexus of beliefs we call Gnosticism. On my own time, I read a lot of books about goddess religion and matriarchal prehistory that I would later reject and then, later still, approach with a little more generosity and less of a need to be right.

I launched Postmodern Witch to share some of what I’ve learned and to create a community of teachers, makers, and learners who understand that the spiritual is political.
